The other day while I was writing a draft for my client’s newsletter (which has over 5,000 subscribers) he (the client) asked me whether “Social timing”, i.e. the time of publication of his social media posts is (still) relevant or completely irrelevant.

This question is frequently and widely discussed among marketers. Some say it’s very important to post at the right time, others say it’s nonsense. Both sides are right — and also wrong.

Let me explain.

The fact is: that if your content is boring, the time of publication doesn’t matter. Nobody cares about bad content, even if you show it to 40,000 people. What doesn’t interest people won’t be consumed.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s morning, noon, afternoon or night. However, the question arises as to whether this period for good content exists or not, and this is exactly where opinions differ widely.

Ultimately, the central question remains what you can do to ensure that your good content performs better.

Firstly, it’s clear that you’ll reach fewer people at 3.33 am, simply because most of them are asleep.
